Robert Mugabe to be laid to rest at his rural home.

The former president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, who passed away a few weeks ago will finally be laid to rest after a bitter tussle between the government and his widow Grace. The former president passed away in Singapore. Upon arrival of his body back home he had been immediately declared a national hero with government expressing plans to have him buried at the national heroes acre.

His family, had, however indicated that no such burial would take place as the former president had himself pronounced that he did not want to be buried there. In spite of making this known, government had still proceeded to engage Wicknell Chivhayo to build a mausoleum at the national shrine where he would be buried. The mausoleum was said to cost around US 1 million dollars.

Grace seems to have won the battle as government recently announced that the former president will be buried at his ruarl home in Zvimba in line with the wishes of the family. In an official statement, government said it was co operating with the family and will render all necessary support to give the national hero a fitting send off and burial. The date of burial has not been made public knowledge.

There has been a lot of chaos and drama surrounding the death of Robert Mugabe. A few days ago, it was reported that some chiefs from Zvimba had been thrown out of the blue roof residence by his widow Grace over misunderstandings about his burial. The body of the former president is still lodged at the blue roof, weeks after his death. Norton legislator Themba Mliswa was also denied entry into the blue roof to see the president and pay his last respects.

Robert Mugabe was ousted from power in November 2017 and had been enjoying some quality time with his family. He had ruled the country for over three decades.
