Mixed reactions over Zim anti sanctions campaign.

The stinging bite of the economic situation in Zim has naturally forced the government to declare an anti sanctions campaign this Friday. The campaign will see people demonstrating peacefully against sanctions imposed by the west on Zimbabwe decades ago.

The president had earlier on hosted a national prayer event led by his wife to pray for the country’s misfortunes to be turned around. He later on announced that Friday will be a public holiday to pave way for the anti sanctions feat. The government is blaming the state of the country’s economy in sanctions imposed by the West after the land reform programme led by the late fomer president Robert Mugabe.

Most people have reacted to the issue. Some said the campaign will not yield much results because this is not the first time such an initiative has been made. When a petition was signed by thousands of people some years ago, the West simply asked the previous administration to address human rights abuses in the country for the sanctions to be lifted. The issue ended there.

Others commented that the US president,Donald Trump, was unlikely to be swayed by such a menial mobe. They said it required more effort and dedication by the current government than a mere campaign even if other SADC countries are rallying behind.

A few, however, expressed hope that the campaign might bring an end to decdes of misery and suffering.
