Oppah Muchinguri labelled a hypocrite

Defence minister Oppah Muchinguri was recently the subject of ridicule online after being pictured wearing a mask. Muchinguri had earlier on announced that the coronavirus was a punishment to foreign nations for imposing sanctions on Zimbabwe. The minister had stirred controversy and most people had labelled her as ignorant.

Muchinguri was pictured alongside vice president Chiwenga and some other dignitaries. People were quick to lambast her and said she displayed hypocrisy by wearing a mask to protect herself against a virua that she had earlier claimed was a punishment to Western nations.

Muchinguri indeed lost popularity by those sentiments. Zimbabwe has not been spared the virus with 5 confirmed cases and one death. The sudden passing away of Zororo Makamba serves as an eye opener to many about the real danger of the virus. He ha just returned from a New York trip.

The president has since ordered a national lockdown to try and curb the spread of the virus. Most countries are currently on a lockdown. Muchinguri had also been accused of trying to sabotage citizens because people said her sentiments could have led to Western nations responding in a ranger way sub as making sure the virus reaches the country in large proportions.

The Defence minister has indeed however led by example by wearing a mask which has been recommended by health professionals. Most people mhave been ignorant about taking precautionary measures to contain the virus.
