Having a brush with the law is one thing that people in th public eye try to avoid at all costs. There are times however when our favorite celebs have gone behind bars for various reasons. Here are some celebrities who have either served prison terms or spent a night or two in jail cells.

1 Mathias Mhere
The former soldier cum singer once served some prison time. It was behind the solitary walls of prison that he found his calling as a gospel singer. Mhere received reformation in jail and released his first album soon after his release.

2 Ginimbi
The flamboyant business man once languished in remand prison for some weeks after being arrested on fraud related charges. His popularity grew even further when he undertook to pay bail quantum for over 100 inmates that had been granted bail but were failing to pay the required bail deposit.

3 Paul Matavire
The hilarious singer was once convicted of rape in 1989. He spent 13 months behind bars before being released thorough a presidential pardon. The lady who accused him of rape later confessed that she had made up the charges following a jealousy stint when she learned that Matavire had spent the night with another woman instead of her. The blind singer released an album titled Back from college after his release, highlighting his plight behind bars and his come back.

Socialite TeeMak was recently arrested on fraud and money embezzlement charges. His trial has not yet kicked off. The son of man of God, Bishop Chipunza made the headlines after several people claimed to have been duped by him.

5 Fadzayi Mahere
Outspoken lawyer and MDC spokesperson Advocate Fadzayi Mahere has been thrown into cells several times. The latest involved an arrest made after she took part in a peaceful protest. She spent the night in the cells and was later granted bail
