Black Rhinos Queens progress to Champions League semis
Zimbabwe’s representatives in the Women’s CAF Champions League COSAFA qualifiers Black Rhinos Queens are through to the semi-finals of the competition after a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Tura Magic of Namibia yesterday.
Needing only a draw to progress to the next stage, the Zimbabwe queens capped off their group games with a stellar performance to top Group B with 6 points.
Seasoned striker Rutendo “Madzimai” Makore was on target twice for Black Rhinos Queens while promising forward Cristobel Katona was at it again to seal her side’s 3-0 sweet victory over the Namibians.
An ecstatic Queens head coach Kuda Matuwi saluted his girls’ hardwork and perseverance in achieving such a feet.
“We are so happy as a team, it’s good to get a result and especially given our background that we haven’t been playing for close to two years now. We just continue to push and keep on grinding the results so that we get to Egypt and make history. I am sure our win in our first game played a big part in boosting the team’s confidence and moral ahead today’s (Sunday) game and we hope to carry on win the winning spirit and formula,” he said.
The army side now await their opponents from Group A whose round of fixtures conclude today (Monday).
