JUST IN: SRC suspends ZIFA Board
The country’s supreme sports body, the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has suspended the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) with immediate effect in accordance with the Sports and Recreation Act.
The development which leaves the country’s football plunged into uncertainty comes after the SRC and the football mother body met this Tuesday morning to deliberate on some of the issues surrounding the downfall of the game in Zimbabwe.
Confirming the news, SRC says the decision has been considered following several incidences of gross incompetence on the part of ZIFA contrary to the national interest as provided for in terms of Section 30 (i) (c) of the SRC Act.
