Could Sunday’s performance mark a turnaround for Dzvukamanja?

Once considered hot property at Orlando Pirates Terrence Dzvukamanja has had a period of mixed fortunes at the Bucaneers.

After being snapped up from Ngezi Platinum Stars, Terrence Dzvukamanja showed early signs of being the finished article with a number of assists and important goals for Bidvest Wits who would later sell the player to Orlando Pirates.

Dzvukamanja’s fortunes however appeared to wane at the Soweto giants with the winger falling down the pecking order particularly under current coach Jose Riveiro.

The Zimbabwean international was however given a new lease of life after coming on as a second half substitute in Orlando Pirates last fixture against Golden Arrows. Minutes after coming on Dzvukamanja scored a crucial second goal in a contest where the Sea Robbers appeared to be headed for a stalemate.

When introduced as a substitute there appeared to be widespread disgruntlement among Pirates fans who booed the Zimbabwean player shortly before coming on.

Dzvukamanja however silenced his critics with a well taken header which helped the Bucaneers regain the lead against Arrows before Vincent Pule grabbed a third deep into injury time.

After the game Orlando Pirates Jose Riveiro however registered his dissatisfaction with the behaviour of fans as he urged spectators to rally behind any player that puts on an Orlando Pirates shirt.

Terrence Dzvukamanja first rose to stardom back in Zimbabwe where he scored some important goals for Ngezi Platinum Stars as well as chipping in with several assists. He was then called up for national duty and after catching the eye of Bidvest Wits the Zimbabwean secured a move to South Africa.

Following a spell at Wits Dzvukamanja switched allegiance to the Bucaneers, the club he currently turns out for.
