Registration Opens for 2024 National Cup Clash in Harare

Registration for participants in the highly anticipated 2024 National Cup Clash kicked off on Friday at the City Sports Centre in Harare. Following the success of last year’s event, where Mbida D won a BMW as the overall champion, this year’s edition is set to be even bigger and better, promising excitement and top-tier performances.

Event coordinator Jack Radics, who is working in close collaboration with the main sponsor Chipaz Chimbodza, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event, which is scheduled for December 21. “We are ready for the 2024 edition of the National Clash, where the new king and queen of Zimdancehall will be crowned. This has been an annual talent search show for years, and we aim to make this edition even more special,” Radics said.

The competition is free and open to all talented Zimbabweans, with a special emphasis on reaching out to chanters from across the country. “It is not just a Harare affair, as the name suggests; we are focusing on talent from every corner of Zimbabwe,” Radics emphasized. He added that the event is part of the Zimdancehall movement’s efforts to fight against drug and substance abuse.

To ensure the contest’s credibility, the event organizers have enlisted the help of reputable Zimdancehall scouts, including Godfatha Templeman, DJ Fydale, Etherton B, and DJ Fantan. These industry veterans will assist in identifying potential candidates for the competition, while fans will have the final say as judges on the day of the event.

“We are grateful for the support of our main sponsor, Chipaz Promotions, and for the guidance of the four scouts who will help us during the process,” Radics said.

Although defending champion Mbida D is not participating in this year’s competition, his legacy as the 2023 winner remains an inspiration for many. The National Cup Clash continues to serve as a major platform for emerging talent in the Zimdancehall scene, and anticipation is already building for the December showdown.
