Zimbabwean Horticultural Exporters Set to Explore New Markets at Fruit Logistica 2025

Zimbabwean horticultural exporters are gearing up for a major opportunity to explore new markets when they engage with potential buyers at Fruit Logistica 2025, the world’s largest horticultural exhibition. Scheduled for 5-7 February in Berlin, Germany, the event will see the participation of at least 30 Zimbabwean farmers, with 10 exhibitors physically present, another 10 attending to gather insights as visitors, and the remaining participants sending samples of their products.

The Zimbabwean delegation’s participation in the event is facilitated by ZimTrade, the national trade development and promotion organization, with support from the Zimbabwe Embassy in Germany. Fruit Logistica, a premier global platform, provides Zimbabwean businesses with a rare chance to connect with international buyers, forge partnerships, and gain a foothold in new markets.

Fruit Logistica serves as a leading event in the fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers industry, attracting key players across the global supply chain—from growers and exporters to distributors and retailers. It is an essential meeting point for stakeholders seeking to explore emerging trends and the latest innovations in the sector.

According to Similo Nkala, ZimTrade’s Operations Director, the exhibition provides Zimbabwean farmers and exporters an invaluable opportunity to showcase their fresh produce on the international stage.

“Fruit Logistica has consistently delivered tangible results for our exporters in the past, opening doors to lucrative markets and strengthening existing partnerships,” Nkala stated. “We are confident that this year’s participation will yield even greater success as we showcase Zimbabwe’s high-quality produce and align ourselves with global standards of innovation, sustainability, and quality.”

At the exhibition, the Zimbabwe Pavilion will act as the central hub for local exhibitors, offering a platform for companies to display a range of fresh produce and value-added products. Participants will have the chance to engage with potential partners, observe competitors, and learn about the latest consumer trends influencing the global industry.

Zimbabwean exporters are poised to highlight the unique qualities of their fresh produce and demonstrate their commitment to meeting international standards. This direct engagement with international buyers, distributors, and retailers offers valuable insights into emerging market demands, enabling Zimbabwean exporters to stay competitive in the fast-evolving global marketplace.

ZimTrade’s Nkala reflected on the success of past editions, noting that several Zimbabwean companies had secured long-term contracts and gained access to high-value markets following their participation. The platform has proven to be a crucial tool in driving export growth and strengthening Zimbabwe’s position in the global horticultural industry.

“Showcasing our products to the world and engaging directly with key stakeholders has unlocked new markets and strengthened existing ones,” Nkala added.

This year’s participation will also mark a significant milestone for Zimbabwean exporters, as they expand beyond fresh produce to include value-added products. This move up the value chain will allow exporters to tap into niche markets and meet the growing global demand for processed and packaged goods.

In conclusion, Fruit Logistica 2025 presents a pivotal opportunity for Zimbabwean horticultural exporters to broaden their horizons, forge strategic partnerships, and gain valuable market insights. By leveraging the platform’s global reach, local farmers and exporters are well-positioned to increase their competitiveness, meet international demand, and contribute to Zimbabwe’s export growth and economic development.
