Vee Mampeezy Announces Solo Concert in Bulawayo After Electrifying SWAN Music Festival Performance

Botswana music sensation Vee Mampeezy, best known for his hit song “Taku Taku,” has announced plans for a solo concert in Bulawayo. This decision follows the overwhelming support he received at the SWAN Music Festival this past weekend.

The festival, held at White City Stadium, saw Mampeezy share the stage with some of Africa’s top artistes, including Alick Macheso, Awa Khiwe, Winky D, Kwesta, and Toss. The crowd’s energy and enthusiasm left a lasting impression on the artist, who reflected on his deep connection with the city.

“I was amazed by the love and energy at White City Stadium. The crowd knew almost every song, and it was emotional to see that Bulawayo still supports me after all these years,” he said.

Mampeezy, born Odirile Ishmael Sento, recalled that Bulawayo was the first city in Zimbabwe to embrace him when he performed there two decades ago. He considers the city a special place in his musical journey.

“My first international gig outside Botswana was here in Bulawayo, and the support has never wavered. To show my gratitude, I want to host a solo concert to celebrate this bond,” he added.

The musician expressed his appreciation for Zimbabwean fans and revealed his eagerness to work with local promoters to make the event a reality.

Mampeezy’s career began at the age of 16 with the release of his debut album “Kasi Angels” in 2001, which became an instant hit. His unique fusion of kwaito, gospel, and house music has earned him a loyal following across Africa.

He cites legendary artists such as the late Brenda Fassie, Hugh Masekela, and Oliver Mtukudzi as major influences on his sound and artistic direction.

Over the years, Mampeezy has collaborated with top African musicians, including the late kwaito icon Mandoza and Nigerian dancehall star Patoranking. With his planned solo concert in Bulawayo, he aims to further strengthen his connection with Zimbabwean music lovers and celebrate their enduring support.
