Dorcas Moyo Set to Ignite Manicaland with Blockbuster “Mugeri Tsvatu” Album Launch

Manicaland is gearing up for a spiritual and musical explosion as gospel sensation Dorcas Moyo prepares to host one of the most anticipated events on Zimbabwe’s entertainment calendar. The “Mugeri Tsvatu” album launch, scheduled for 6 September at the Manicaland Showgrounds, promises to be a spectacular celebration of faith, culture, and unity, drawing a crowd of over 5,000 fans and featuring a powerhouse lineup of performers.

Dorcas Moyo, known for her ability to merge heartfelt gospel with vibrant social commentary, is taking the stage with a fusion of genres and generations that is already being hailed as a historic moment in Zimbabwean music.

Joining her will be sungura legend Alick Macheso, gospel matriarch Mai Charamba, hitmakers Leonard Zhakata and Sulumani Chimbetu, gospel icons Fungisai Zvakavapano and Blessing Shumba, the ever-outspoken Hosiah Chipanga, Mathias Mhere, Mai Mukanganwa, rising star King David, and Afro-jazz favourite Mbeu. Even Zimbabwe’s beloved influencer and comedian Madam Boss will add her signature flair to the event.

“We’re working around the clock to make this one of the biggest events in the province and the country at large,” said Dorcas Moyo. “The preparations are in motion and, come August, everything will be locked in. We’re confident of delivering something special.”

The new album, Mugeri Tsvatu, is the latest chapter in Moyo’s ongoing exploration of hair and identity—an artistic journey that has previously given fans standout projects like Mhanza Haisekwi, Bvudzi Rangu Ramera, and Mvere Dzabvepi. Fans can expect spiritually uplifting anthems like Wodalitsika, Kazevezeve, Jerusalem, and the title track Mugeri Tsvatu to headline the evening.

Moyo revealed that the album’s rollout will include music videos for at least half of the project’s tracks. “The songs are still being finalised, but we already have a few that are solidly in place,” she shared.

But beyond the music, the event is set to become a cultural touchstone. “Our relationships with fellow artistes made this line-up possible. We value diversity and wanted a line-up that reflects Zimbabwe’s rich musical tapestry,” Moyo said. “Music has no boundaries, and this launch will prove just that.”

Through her lyrical storytelling and dynamic stage presence, Dorcas Moyo has become a cornerstone of contemporary Zimbabwean gospel. Her previous albums—from PaMarah Tapfuura to Bvisai Marara—have consistently tackled spiritual themes while staying grounded in everyday struggles and triumphs.

Now, as the countdown begins, anticipation is sky-high. Mugeri Tsvatu isn’t just another album launch—it’s shaping up to be a nationwide celebration. Come 6 September, all roads lead to the Manicaland Showgrounds, where faith and music will unite in an unforgettable display of Zimbabwean talent and spirit.
