Sikandar Raza to Lead Zimbabwe in Home T20I Tri-Series Against South Africa and New Zealand

Zimbabwe Cricket has unveiled a strong 16-man squad for the highly anticipated T20 International (T20I) tri-series featuring South Africa and New Zealand. The tournament, set to take place from 14 to 26 July 2025 at Harare Sports Club, will see Zimbabwe host two of the world’s top cricketing nations in a competitive contest on home soil.
Veteran all-rounder Sikandar Raza will lead the side, bringing experience and leadership to a squad that blends seasoned campaigners with emerging talent. Each team in the tri-series will face the others twice during the round-robin stage, with the top two sides progressing to the final scheduled for 26 July.
The Zimbabwean squad features several notable returns. Left-arm pacer Richard Ngarava is back in the mix after recovering from a lower-back injury that had sidelined him in recent months. His inclusion is expected to add strength and variety to the pace attack, which also features the consistent Blessing Muzarabani.
Promising young all-rounder Brian Bennett, who was sidelined with a concussion during Zimbabwe’s recent Test series against South Africa in Bulawayo, has been cleared to return to action. His versatility will be a key asset in the middle order and with the ball.
Zimbabwe has also retained players who performed well in their last T20I assignment against Ireland in February, including Ryan Burl, Tony Munyonga and Tashinga Musekiwa. These players are expected to continue their good form and play pivotal roles in Zimbabwe’s campaign.
Adding fresh energy to the squad are three uncapped players in T20 internationals: wicketkeeper-batter Tafadzwa Tsiga, left-arm seamer Newman Nyamhuri and leg-spinner Vincent Masekesa. Their selection signals Zimbabwe Cricket’s ongoing efforts to develop depth and invest in future stars.
Zimbabwe will kick off their tri-series campaign on 14 July against South Africa, followed by a clash with New Zealand on 18 July. They face South Africa again on 20 July and conclude the round-robin phase with a match against New Zealand on 24 July.
With strong squad depth and home advantage, Zimbabwe will be looking to deliver consistent performances and challenge for the title in this exciting mid-year cricket spectacle.
