Raaz Mahlazi to Launch Music Festival Empowering the Girl Child

Victoria Falls artiste Raaz Mahlazi, born Godwin Ngwenya, is set to launch his own music festival aimed at promoting and empowering the girl child. The inaugural event will take place at Comfort Pub and Grill on October 4, featuring performances from Jah Marcy, Jay Tonga, Cypho, Black Spider, Babongile Sibanda, I’Mour, and Kid Lee. DJs on the decks will include DJ Static, DJ Conz, DJ Mike, and DJ Hyder.

The festival, themed “Celebrating the Raaz’Music Journey – Empowering the Girl Child,” seeks to combine entertainment with social impact. Raaz Mahlazi described the event as a celebration of his music journey while giving back to the community.

“As part of this event, we are launching a special initiative to support girls in underserved communities who lack access to basic menstrual hygiene products,” Raaz Mahlazi said.

He highlighted the broader social importance of the initiative, noting that many young girls are forced to miss school or use unsafe alternatives such as cloth or paper during their menstrual cycles. “This is not just a health issue — it’s a barrier to education and dignity. Together, let’s uplift the girl child and ensure that no girl is left behind because of a lack of access to menstrual hygiene,” he added.

The Raaz’Music Festival is designed to showcase local talent while raising awareness about critical issues affecting young girls. The event marks the beginning of what organizers hope will become an annual platform combining music, community engagement, and social empowerment.

By leveraging his platform as an established artiste, Raaz Mahlazi aims to make a meaningful impact on both the music industry and the lives of girls in Victoria Falls and surrounding communities.
