Babalwa M Set to Make Zimbabwe Debut in Bulawayo with Women-Centred Celebration

South African Amapiano vocalist Babalwa M, born Babalwa Mavuso, has expressed excitement ahead of her first performance in Bulawayo, promising a show that celebrates women and fosters meaningful connections with fans. The performance, scheduled for December 21 at a local entertainment venue, marks a milestone for the singer as she steps onto a stage she has long anticipated visiting.

Known for hits such as Bo Thata and uValo, Babalwa M said the Bulawayo performance is particularly special as it introduces her to Zimbabwean audiences. “It’s my first time visiting Zimbabwe, and I’m excited to finally have a date in the country. I love experiencing different cultures and environments, and I’m really looking forward to feeling the energy of Bulawayo, connecting with the audience, and creating special moments on stage,” she said in an interview.

The venue holds added significance, having previously hosted leading creatives, including her husband and renowned Amapiano producer Kelvin Momo. Babalwa M said performing on such a stage is both inspiring and motivating. “I know the challenge that lies ahead, as great creatives have performed on that stage. But I’m excited to experience the culture, the people, and the energy, and to make unforgettable memories with the fans,” she added.

The performance will also focus on women’s empowerment, a cause Babalwa M champions. “To me, women’s empowerment is about creating a space for women to understand their worth and to be given platforms where they can use their voices confidently. It’s about supporting women to be independent, self-aware, and unapologetic about their dreams, while uplifting one another instead of competing,” she explained.

As 2025 draws to a close, the vocalist emphasised the importance of celebrating women’s achievements. “Many women have done great things for themselves and their loved ones this year. Those wins deserve to be celebrated. I’ll use this gig to celebrate with them, as I’ve also had personal wins that deserve recognition. If you’ve never experienced me performing live, this is the moment.”

Babalwa M will be joined by a strong supporting lineup, including Novuyo Seagirl, Emma The Violinist, Just Drey, DJ Liz, DJ Tania, Lyle Dash, Keezy AM, DJ Dzuki, Verda, and Bless and Teflon. The event promises a festive, empowering experience, combining Amapiano rhythms with a celebration of women’s voices and achievements.
