7 Ways to Study During Your School Break
Your school break has just started and you are looking forward to kicking back and relaxing. Although holidays are fun you can’t fall behind with your studies. Maybe you have holiday assignments or you just want to keep ahead with your studies. Here are 7 ways to study during your school break.
1. Create a study timetable
Remember that you aren’t in school so don’t be hard on yourself. Look at your next term or semester’s outline for each subject and schedule a timetable around that. Divide the number of days that you have of your holiday and create time set aside for studying only. This will give you a clear guideline of what you want to study and achieve.
2. Create a conducive environment
Establish a comfortable environment for studying. Clear a space where you can study without any distractions.
3. Focus on your long-term goals
Remind yourself of what you want to achieve and why you are studying.
4. Study with friends
Studying in a group has its benefits. You are able to discuss topics that you don’t understand. Group discussions have been known to be good for your memory making stout studies easier.
5. Set goals for each study session
Write down what you want to achieve at the end of every session. What topic do you want to understand? What are the key points and keywords on that specific topic? Write your learning goals and tick off what you have understood.
6. Prioritise your subjects
Not everyone is a Jack of all trades and gets a grade A across the board. There are subjects that you’re really good and there are those that pose a challenge. Start off with the subjects that you find easy because you will spend less time studying them. You then move on to the harder ones that need more time and concentration. Look for study aids for those hard subjects. You can ask your friends during group study and discussion about what you aren’t good at.
7. Make studying fun
There are things that you love to do in your spare time and on holiday. Why not sync your interests with your subjects? If you’re going to a resort, or the beach combine that with science and geography. If you have a holiday job that you like add some wordplay from English and numbers from accounts. Be as creative as possible and allow your life and school to flow in one direction.
