Dynamos Highlanders league clash called off

The highly-anticipated clash between Dynamos and Highlanders Football Club has been cancelled due to both teams being involved in the Independence Cup final, which is scheduled to take place in Mount Darwin on Independence Day.

In a statement released by the PSL, it was revealed that the Sports and Recreation Commission had instructed the two sides not to participate over the weekend to allow them to prepare for independence celebrations.

Fans looking forward to the battle of Zimbabwe, which was set to take place at Barbourfields stadium on Saturday, will now have to wait until Independence Day to see the two rivals face off. Both Dynamos and Highlanders have made strong starts to their 2023 PSL campaigns, remaining unbeaten in their opening four league fixtures. With both sides having won two and drawn two, spectators were looking forward to an enthralling league clash.

Although the match was cancelled, Dynamos and Bosso will compete against each other in the Uhuru Cup, where both pride and silverware will be at stake.

Highlanders last year emerged victorious in the Independence Cup final after a solitary Stanley Ngala strike proved to be the difference for the two sides. The triumph was Bosso’s 8th Uhuru cup title and the Bulawayo giants will be hoping to again dominate dembare in this year’s final.

Dynamos are rejuvenated following a shake-up in their technical department with the acquisition of new players also igniting a sense of belief. Dembare will be hoping for a win against Bosso in the Uhuru Cup so as to further bolster their confidence following a decent start to their league campaign.
