Econet Wireless Showcases Technology Solutions at 115th Zimbabwe Agricultural Show

Econet Wireless Zimbabwe, the country’s leading mobile telecommunications and technology company, is exhibiting at the 115th edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (ZAS), which opened in Harare on Monday, August 25, and runs for one week. The event, Zimbabwe’s premier agricultural and business exhibition, is themed “Building Bridges: Connecting Agriculture, Industry & Community” and attracts thousands of visitors each year. Last year, ZAS hosted over 250,000 visitors and more than 560 exhibitors.

Through a company spokesman, Econet said its participation underscores a commitment to empowering communities and businesses through innovative technology. “The Zimbabwe Agricultural Show provides an opportunity to directly engage with hundreds of thousands of our customers, get their feedback by listening to them, and showcase how our products and services are continuously evolving to meet their needs,” he said.

At its exhibition stand, Econet is showcasing a wide range of products and services, including digital communication and connectivity solutions, financial technology (fintech) services, insurance offerings, and entertainment products. Visitors can experience the flagship EcoCash mobile money platform, the Moovah Insurance suite covering personal, agricultural, logistics, and business risks, as well as digital gaming and entertainment options.

Econet is also introducing technologies aimed at transforming agriculture and water management, notably Smart Water Meters. These devices provide real-time data to help farmers and water utilities manage resources efficiently, reduce water waste, and improve customer service while promoting sustainable water use. Smart Water Meters are increasingly viewed as a game-changer in modern agriculture, enabling farmers and communities to monitor and optimise water consumption.

Industry analysts note that Econet’s presence at ZAS highlights the growing role of technology in agriculture. With the sector contributing significantly to Zimbabwe’s GDP, digital solutions in connectivity, mobile payments, insurance, and water management are becoming essential for sustainable growth.

Independent analyst Tafadzwa Moyo said the introduction of Smart Water Meters demonstrates a forward-thinking approach. “Agriculture today cannot thrive without technology. Farmers need reliable communication, access to markets, financial services, risk protection – and increasingly, smart infrastructure. Products such as Smart Water Meters address one of the most pressing issues for farmers: water efficiency. This is a powerful example of how technology can secure the future of agriculture,” he said.

Econet’s participation in ZAS reinforces the company’s commitment to bridging the gap between technology and agriculture, empowering farmers, businesses, and communities with tools to drive efficiency, innovation, and growth.
