Gloomy Christmas for Marry Chiwenga as bid to get bail is thwarted.
25 December will be another miserable day for Marry Chiwenga as her bid to obtain freedom has once again hit a stumbling block. Judge Chinamora postponed her bail hearing to 27 December pending the filing of a response to her bail application by the state. Mubaiwa will therefore spend her Christmas in jail with other inmates at Remand prison where she is currently lodged.
Marry is facing charges of attempted murder, money laundering, fraud and corruption. She is alleged to have swindled money amounting to US 1 million dollars. More charges are expected to be levelled against her. Mary in her defence has said that the charges are fabricated. She is maintaining her innocence. In their bail application papers, her lawyers from Mthetwa and Nyambirai have rubbished allegations of any misconduct on her part. They cheekily stated that when a hyena wants to eat children it accuses its children of smelling like goats making reference to the behaviour of her husband.
Marry has also alleged that she is not well and is still nursing wounds from an attempted assassination of the party leaders in Bulawayo last year. Marry is vehemently denying all allegations against her and has instead turned the tables around and asked for the vice president to be arrested in relation to the funds allegedly misused as they belonged to him
