Nyasha Dube’s intriguing journey
From the dusty streets of Hwange, 23-year-old Zimbabwe international midfielder Nyasha Dube has asserted himself in the Little Rock Rangers midfield department which competes in the USL league, America’s fourth tier football. Dube who is son to former Hwange FC coach Nation started his football journey as early as 7 years while playing for weeks Academy under the mentorship of Never Mnkuli and Leon Mwale before being promoted to the Hwange FC under 15 side.
The young midfielder would go on to feature for Chipangano’s under 17 and reserve side before earning himself a scholarship to study in the United States in 2017 when he was 19, the same year he was supposed to sign for Hwange’s senior team.
Thanks to American coach Dave Casper for the opportunity which opened doors for the young man and brought about his breakthrough. Upon his arrival in the United States, the Zimbabwean was welcomed by college football and club football before settling for Little Rock Rangers where he is being deployed as a midfielder.
“It’s been great in the USL league in the United States. There is a lot of talent and competition and I have learnt a lot playing this side,” said Dube.
The 23-year-old played for Thomas Coulter Primary and Thekwane High School where he earned numerous accolades as well as representing Matabeleland North several times at the Youth Games. Dube hopes to one day make it big on the football landscape.
“My aspirations as a footballer are very high and in the next few years I hope to be playing in the top big leagues in Europe and also representing my country at the grand stages of world football like the World Cup. I believe our country has a lot of talent to reach such heights.”
The young midfielder noted his mother Theodora is his role model given her humility and hard work as a woman who came from nothing in her life to be someone.
“My mother has always motivated me to work hard in everything I do not only put in some extra hours in football but in school as well, and other aspects of life,
“In our footballing field, I emulate Marvelous Nakamba, I just love his personality and the way he plays, how he carries himself. I mean the guy is the real definition of simplicity, humility and calmness. He does a lot for the community too in terms of giving back which I believe it’s something which we as black people should practice frequently so that we can all move forward as a people,” Dube highlighted.
The Hwange-born star is an avid supporter of Chipangano and on the other hand a huge admirer of Tshilamoya Bosso and Manchester United fan.
On national team call up,the Little Rock Rangers player says it’s an honour to play for the Warriors and believes it is every footballer’s dream to represent their motherland since one would be representing their friends, family and the nation at large.
Dube concluded by saying he is proud to be Zimbabwean and has been a huge fan of the Warriors since childhood and basically for him, it is a natural instinct of being a Zimbabwean.
