Shingirai Mandizwidza: A Rising Football Talent with a Story to Tell
Shingirai Mandizwidza’s football journey has been nothing short of interesting. During his time playing in Zimbabwe, his teammates gave him the nickname “Kawondera” after the former Warriors player who was known for his silky skills on the pitch.
Like his namesake, Shingirai also aspires to become a professional footballer, having started his career in Zimbabwe before moving abroad to Europe, where he played in Poland and Cyprus.
Since moving to the United States at the age of 12, Shingirai has continued to make strides on the football pitch. He is currently focused on making an impact at Gordon College, where he is expected to play a key role on the A-side.
Though balancing sport and school can be challenging, Shingirai remains determined to chase his dream and go the extra mile to make a name for himself as a professional footballer.
“I know that it is no stroll in the park, a lot of hard work rily goes into it but I am determined to one day make a name for myself as a professional footballer”, says Shingirai.
While in Zimbabwe Shingirai turned out for Black Mambas juniors, a club with a rich history in Zimbabwe. Masimba Dinyero, Collins Kabote and Sebastian Mutizirwa are a few of the renowned players to have played for Black Mambas. Apart from Black Mambas Mandizwidza also turned out for Mushowani Juniors, a club that had a stint in the Zimbabwe psl but is now defunct.
Following early development in his native land, Mandizwidza continues to pursue the game he so deeply loves and the coming season will be a gratifying period for the budding footballer.
