Tourism Minister Barbara Rwodzi Applauds Christ Embassy for Promoting Spiritual Healing and National Unity

Tourism Minister Barbara Rwodzi has commended Christ Embassy for its vital role in fostering spiritual healing and unity in Zimbabwe, noting the church’s significant contribution to the nation’s development. Rwodzi made the remarks on Saturday while officiating at the Healing Streams Carnival held at Christ Embassy Belvedere Church in Harare.

In her address, the minister emphasised that the government cannot single-handedly tackle the country’s challenges, acknowledging the indispensable role played by faith-based institutions. “The government cannot do everything on its own. You are stakeholders in our nation and the part you play is very pertinent and key,” she said.

Rwodzi revealed that even at the highest levels of leadership, faith holds a prominent place. She disclosed that President Emmerson Mnangagwa regularly integrates prayer and biblical reflections into Cabinet discussions, underscoring the spiritual foundation of the country’s leadership.

Highlighting the work of her ministry, Rwodzi spoke about Zimbabwe’s soft diplomacy strategy aimed at strengthening foreign relations and attracting investment through cultural exchange and people-to-people engagement. “Through cultural exchange and people-to-people diplomacy, Zimbabwe aims to showcase its unique attractions and promote national heritage,” she explained.

A key aspect of this approach, she added, is gastronomy tourism, which is inspired by First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa’s traditional food programme. The initiative not only preserves culinary heritage but also enhances Zimbabwe’s global cultural appeal.

“Since last year, we’ve successfully implemented soft diplomacy efforts, even in countries that have imposed sanctions on us,” Rwodzi noted. These initiatives aim to build goodwill, promote Zimbabwean culture, and contribute to economic growth through tourism.

Her remarks came just days before the upcoming international Healing Streams crusade hosted by renowned Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, which is set to take place from July 18 to 20. Christ Embassy Zimbabwe leader Ruth Musarurwa encouraged Zimbabweans to attend the event at various Healing Streams live healing centres across the country, promising a life-transforming spiritual experience.

The event reflects the church’s ongoing commitment to healing, hope, and national restoration—values that align with the government’s vision for a spiritually grounded and united Zimbabwe.
