Mary Chiwenga, wife of vice president Constantino Chiwenga will languish in remand prison following a recent refusal of bail at the Harare magistrates court yesterday. The former beauty queen was remanded in custody pending trial until 30 December 2019. She was advised to apply for bail at the high court. It seems Mary will have to spend Christmas in jail .

It came as a huge shock to many people when Chiwenga filed for divorce from his wife and removed her from their matrimonial home. He alleged that she had wanted him dead and fingered her in a poisoning conspiracy. It was also alleged that she had tried to end his life as he lay helplessly in hospital in South Africa. Mary was said to have removed some i.v tubes from Chiwenga after getting rid of his security detail alleging that she wanted some private time with her husband. Mary is however being charged with other crimes on top of the attempted murder of her husband. She is facing extortion, externalization and fraud of money amounting to US 1 million dollars.

Her woes seem to be increasing by the day as the criminal charges are concifing with her divorce. Mary is alleged to have heaped pressure on the v.p to write a will as he battled for his life. He seems to have come guns blazing at her. Mary was banned from seeing her husband in China and was not present to welcome him back at the airport and subsequently at a welcome back party at his home.
