Zimbabwe and Russia Launch Cybersecurity Training for Youth

The Governments of Zimbabwe and Russia have partnered to train Zimbabweans, particularly youths, in ethical hacking, real-world cyber-attack simulation, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
The training programme, held at a local hotel in Harare, runs under the theme Securing Zimbabwe’s Digital Future – Building National Capacity through Strategic Partnerships.
Russian Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Sergey Kuzin said the initiative follows high-level discussions between the two nations. “This event comes after three bilateral meetings between President Vladimir Putin and President Mnangagwa, with the latter visiting Russia three times in the past three years. ICT is one of the key projects identified to close the gap between major powers and developing countries,” he said.
The event is officiated by ICT, Postal and Courier Services Minister Tatenda Mavetera, accompanied by Deputy Minister Dingumuzi Phuti, Permanent Secretary Beulah Chirume, and other ministry officials.
The training aims to build local capacity in cybersecurity, equipping participants with the skills to protect Zimbabwe’s digital infrastructure and respond to emerging cyber threats. It is part of broader cooperation efforts between Zimbabwe and Russia to strengthen technology and knowledge exchange.
