Khonzani Bhebhe to Host First Live DVD Recording “Songs of Revival” Focused on Spiritual Renewal

Zimbabwean gospel musician and worship leader Khonzani Bhebhe is preparing for a major milestone in his ministry with the launch of his first live DVD recording titled Songs of Revival, set for July 4. The Bulawayo-born singer describes the project as a deeply spiritual assignment rather than a standard music release. It reflects a personal journey that began after a life-changing encounter with God in 2020, which he says shaped the direction of his calling. The recording is expected to mark his official emergence as a lead gospel artist after years of supporting other ministries. His focus remains centered on worship, transformation and spiritual renewal through music.

The upcoming live recording will feature seven original songs built around themes of revival, hope, restoration, holiness and a closer relationship with God. Each track has been written to guide listeners into reflective and worshipful moments. Bhebhe has explained that Songs of Revival is designed to bring people back to God through authentic worship experiences. The project is not only about performance but also about ministry impact and personal transformation. He believes the songs will speak to different life experiences while maintaining a consistent message of spiritual awakening.

Khonzani Bhebhe has emphasized that the project is rooted in a divine calling that he believes was placed on his life several years ago. He said the idea for the album came after his encounter with God in 2020, which reshaped his understanding of purpose and ministry. Since then, he has been developing songs that reflect his spiritual journey and personal testimony. The music, he explains, is meant to invite people into a deeper relationship with God rather than simply entertain them. This perspective has guided both the writing and production process of the live recording.

Before stepping into the spotlight as a lead artist, Bhebhe spent several years building experience as a backing vocalist. He worked with multiple gospel musicians and ministries, gaining exposure to professional music environments and stage performance. This background helped him develop his vocal strength and understanding of music ministry at a higher level. He has described this period as essential in shaping his confidence and discipline as an artist. The transition to leading his own live recording marks a significant step forward in his musical journey.

His early musical foundation was formed in Bulawayo, where he grew up in a church environment that influenced his passion for worship. He was inspired by his father’s involvement in gospel music and the participation of his sisters in church presentations. These early experiences helped him develop a natural connection to worship music despite his shy personality. His formal musical journey began at Matopo High School, where he joined a gospel group called Joy Unspeakable. Later at Wanezi High School, he became part of another group known as amaJoy Joy, which deepened his commitment to ministry through music.

During his development as a young musician, Bhebhe encountered gospel artist Andile Ndlovu, who played a key mentorship role in his growth. He later joined the vocal group Vocal Ex under Ndlovu’s guidance, an experience he credits with improving his technical skills and professionalism. This mentorship exposed him to structured music ministry and performance discipline. He has also expressed appreciation that Ndlovu will be involved in his upcoming live recording. These relationships have contributed significantly to his artistic and spiritual development over the years.

Over time, Bhebhe has collaborated with various gospel artists and ministries, including Mnqobi Nxumalo, Siyakha Khitha, Lorraine Maplanka, Snowy, Nkosi Herman and Thandiwe Tanewe. These experiences allowed him to gain practical exposure to diverse worship styles and audiences. He has also received guidance from church leaders such as Simnqobile Mangena, who encouraged him to fully embrace his calling in praise and worship ministry. This network of mentorship and collaboration has shaped his identity as both a musician and a worship leader. It has also strengthened his commitment to using music as a form of ministry rather than performance alone.

As preparations for Songs of Revival continue, Bhebhe remains focused on the spiritual intention behind the project. He has stated that his goal is to create an atmosphere where listeners can encounter God through worship. He believes revival is not just a public event but a personal transformation that begins in the heart. His message centers on drawing people back to faith and encouraging a deeper walk with Christ. For him, success will not be measured by production quality alone but by the spiritual impact the music has on listeners.
