Africa’s Most Miserable Countries According To The Business Insider

According to economist Arthur Okun’s “Misery Index,” which adds together a country’s unemployment and inflation rates, the higher the number the more “miserable” your country is.

Studies show that unemployment and inflation contribute hugely to people’s happiness.

Business Insider compiled a list of the world’s most miserable countries based on 2014 data available at the CIA World FactBook. The following are the African countries which made the top 18 Most Miserable Countries in the World list.

Misery-index score: 20.1%

CPI inflation: 4.9%

Unemployment: 15.2%
