Vusa Mkhaya to Perform at 2025 German Africa Award in Berlin

Zimbabwean vocalist Vusa Mkhaya will take the stage at the 2025 German Africa Award ceremony on Wednesday at the Allianz Forum in Berlin. He is set to deliver a specially curated performance as a duo with Austrian pianist Roland Guggenbichler, blending Zimbabwean vocal artistry with world-class piano musicianship.

The German Africa Award, presented annually by the Deutsche Afrika Stiftung, recognises outstanding African achievers across fields including democracy, human rights, sustainable development, scientific innovation, culture, environmental protection, and social progress. It is regarded as one of Europe’s leading honours for African changemakers.

This year’s ceremony will also celebrate Zimbabwean activist Namatai Kwekweza for her work advancing constitutionalism, human rights, and youth political participation. Through her leadership at the WELEAD Trust, Kwekweza has inspired a new generation of civic leaders across Africa, highlighting Zimbabwe’s growing influence in youth-led governance.

Mkhaya’s performance aims to highlight Zimbabwe’s expanding cultural presence on international stages. Known for his role in the award-winning vocal trio INSINGIZI, he has established himself as a singer, songwriter, composer, and producer, celebrated for his distinctive voice and musical versatility.

The fusion of Mkhaya’s vocals with Guggenbichler’s piano promises a powerful artistic experience, showcasing the depth and diversity of Zimbabwean music to a global audience. The event positions both the country’s cultural and civic achievements in a prominent international spotlight.
