Agartha Murudzwa-Bosha Launches 18th Album Sermon in Harare

Seasoned gospel singer and Nyaradzo brand ambassador Agartha Murudzwa-Bosha turned a modest turnout into a powerful worship experience during the launch of her 18th studio album, Sermon, at David Livingstone Primary School in Harare on Saturday. Clad in a bold muscle top and sporting an elegant hairdo, Murudzwa-Bosha commanded the stage with spiritual authority, weaving messages of divine healing and liberation into every song.

Despite the low attendance, the atmosphere was electric, marked by unity, upliftment, and gospel excellence. The well-branded event was sponsored by Nyaradzo and furniture experts Calundike. Murudzwa-Bosha opened her performance with popular hits No Pain No Gain, Makorokoto, and Ndozvatisingade, before preaching through the new tracks Elohim and Jesu Vanopedza from Sermon. The full album also features Ndatenda Mwari, Mufudzi Anotungamirira, Pindai Mutsvene, Usandisiyei, and Rudo Rwenyu Harupere.

Event directors Lona Muguti, aka Manjenjenje, and Stanford Marima kept the audience engaged throughout, maintaining energy and anticipation for each act. With themes rooted in divine intervention, endurance, and grace, Sermon is positioned to boost Murudzwa-Bosha’s visibility in Zimbabwe’s gospel scene. Strategically supported by live shows, digital releases, and regional collaborations, the album could open doors for ministry tours, speaking engagements, and cross-border gospel summits, aligning her with gospel icons like Rebecca Malope, Sinach, and CeCe Winans.

The event featured opening performances by youthful Kirsty, blending hip-hop and amapiano gospel styles, and the energetic Mazambara hitmaker Mai Patai, who brought the congregation to the stage with Pinda. Minister Michael Mahendere led the audience in praise with Tangai Neni and Messiah, giving a taste of his Messiah Tour. Pastor Trymore Bande revived the atmosphere with tracks Vangawa Vachinamata, Muimba yaMwari, Kuri Kwedu, and Kuriritira Vana.

Murudzwa-Bosha was supported by a talented ensemble: Farai Bapata, Tafadzwa Dhliwayo, Arripileng Kwela, and Moira Sekete on backing vocals; Simbarashe Simbi on drums; Alvin Marapira on lead guitar; Joseph Makureya on bass; and Theophilus Chamburuka and Innocent Kalongonda on keys.

“We will soon be taking the music album Sermon throughout Zimbabwe,” Murudzwa-Bosha said. Early album sales were strong, with VIP attendees purchasing copies at US$100 each, some suggesting higher pricing. Prominent apostle and prophet Pastor T Fred praised the event, highlighting the dedication of attendees who paid to gather in worship.

Murudzwa-Bosha, a gospel stalwart for 23 years, explained that the release of her 18 albums was slowed by inconsistent income, family and church commitments, and the inability of digital platforms to convert audiences into sales. Over her career, she has delivered songs ranging from early classics like Makomborero, Ndozvatisingade, and Jehovah Wakanaka, to reflective tracks such as Ngatichengetedzane and Amai. Her discography explores themes of pain, perseverance, joy, and worship, cementing her status as one of Zimbabwe’s gospel matriarchs.

Through industry challenges and evolving musical tastes, Murudzwa-Bosha has remained relevant, collaborating with fellow gospel artists and inspiring devotion, hope, and social awareness across the gospel landscape.
