Baba Harare Marks Comeback with Greater and Wiser Album Launch

Baba Harare sealed his long-awaited return to Jiti music with a successful show at Jongwe Corner on Friday. The event, titled Greater and Wiser, celebrated the launch of his five-track project, signaling a new chapter in his career.
After a year-long detour into gospel music, Baba Harare’s comeback to circular music has been met with excitement. Two songs from the album, 9 Months and Couple of the Year, reached 100 000 views on YouTube within 24 hours, highlighting his vocal talent and enduring popularity. The album also features Poverty, Chigaba Chinorira, and Tiende, with videos accompanying four of the new tracks.
“I am back for business, I will let my work do the talking,” Baba Harare told fans at the launch. Attendees were eager to confirm that his return to Jiti was genuine, with some initially skeptical that the album might be another gospel release disguised as Jiti music. The absence of his wife at the event reassured fans that the project was authentically Jiti. One attendee, Mhofela, said, “Now, I confirmed at first hand and the album is made up of Jiti songs, riri kuterereka haro, pachava ne masong ekutambisa Christmas akati wandei.”
The launch featured performances from Feli Nandi, Obert Chari, Prince Chingwida, Calvin Mangena, and Culture Love. Freeman made a surprise appearance ahead of his upcoming HKD Festival, while rising entertainer Captain Britain also joined the show. The event drew a sizeable crowd, underscoring Baba Harare’s lasting appeal and the anticipation surrounding his return.
Greater and Wiser positions Baba Harare as a dominant force in the Jiti genre once again, confirming that his musical comeback has been both highly anticipated and well-received.
