Eight Zimbabwean Actors Invited to Nigeria for Cultural Exchange and Collaboration

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has extended an invitation to eight Zimbabwean actors to attend a collaborative meeting and witness the inauguration of AGN’s newly elected national executives. The invitation, aimed at promoting cultural exchange and collaboration, will see Takunda Tapfuma, Faith Mupundu, Allen Makocho, Ashley Estone, Michael Machiona, Liberty Jeure, Admire Mushambi, and Given Mare representing Zimbabwe.

AGN, with over one million members across Nigeria, is Africa’s largest association in the culture sector and an affiliate of the International Federation of Actors (FIA). The Zimbabwean delegates, representing The Content Creators Association of Zimbabwe (COCAZ), will visit Lagos, Asaba, and Kano States, key hubs for English, Yoruba, and Hausa films.

Co-founder of COCAZ, Takunda Tapfuma, highlighted the opportunity to meet Nollywood veterans and explore potential collaborations. He emphasized that the invitation aligns with COCAZ’s mission to preserve and promote African cultural identity. “This is a good and unique opportunity for us to promote cultural exchange and showcase Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage. We’re happy to be part of this important event that will give us the opportunity to share our commitment to promoting African cultural values,” Tapfuma said.

During their visit, the Zimbabwean team will engage with Nollywood actors, participate in discussions, and explore joint projects to strengthen bonds between Nigerian and Zimbabwean creatives. Tapfuma added, “We are also hoping for collaborations so that our participation will showcase local content creators’ talents and allow them to learn and share with other countries in future.”

This trip follows previous COCAZ initiatives, including collaborations with Zambia and other African countries, participation at the Nigeria South Africa Relations (NSAR) 2025 conference, and cultural exchange programs in Iran and Nigeria. COCAZ continues to foster growth, development, and collaboration within Zimbabwe’s content creation industry by providing training, networking, access to resources, and advocating for creators’ rights while promoting Zimbabwean content globally.
