Comic Pastor to Retire from Comedy in 2025, Says He’s ‘Shared the Light’

UK-based Zimbabwean comedian Prosper Ngomashi, popularly known as the Comic Pastor, has announced that he will officially step away from comedy by the end of 2025 as he shifts his focus to other personal pursuits.
Famed for his sharp wit and humorous takes on Zimbabwean society and politics, the Comic Pastor rose to prominence as part of the influential Bus Stop TV crew. His skits, often layered with satire and social commentary, resonated with audiences across the diaspora. In 2023, he relocated to the United Kingdom, where he continued his comedy while adapting to new surroundings and challenges.
In a heartfelt message posted on social media, the Comic Pastor reflected on his journey and expressed deep gratitude to those who have supported him over the years, particularly during the month of July, which he described as life-changing.
“JULY has been a great month for me. I have received so much love from people I feel I did little in helping them, yet these people highly regard me as a mentor, as their inspiration and role model,” he shared.
He went on to thank fellow creatives and production teams who have been part of his journey, including Gamue Lorraine Guyo Productions. His message hinted at a sense of creative burnout, stating, “Yes, I can feel it I am (EMPTY), and I am not a politician vasingabvume kupera,” suggesting that his chapter in comedy was naturally coming to a close.
The Comic Pastor confirmed that his retirement would be official in 2025, closing a vibrant chapter in Zimbabwean comedy.
“2025 marks the END of The Comic Pastor and I retire with joy. I shared the light, passed on the baton, and helped others,” he declared.
Over the years, the Comic Pastor has been instrumental in mentoring emerging comedians and using his platform to spotlight societal issues. His legacy, he notes, is not only in the laughs he delivered but in the opportunities he created for others in the industry.
As 2025 draws closer, fans will have a final chance to witness his signature humor before he takes his final bow, leaving behind a trail of laughter, inspiration, and impact.
