Growing up in Mutare’s Chikanga Suburb before moving to Harare’s Kuwadzana, he was exposed to diverse lifestyles, which shaped his musical outlook. “I’m on a journey to make music that moves people, and I am still learning FL Studio. I’m all about creating vibes that heal,” he said. His performances focus on audience engagement, ensuring that every set resonates emotionally while keeping energy levels high.

Winning the DJ Clash marked a pivotal moment in his career. The equipment he used for the competition was borrowed from a friend, highlighting his resilience and collaborative spirit. “Before the clash, I used to borrow a laptop, but after winning, I was introduced to gadgets I dreamt about, like a controller and a powerful MacBook. The big lesson is to learn not to be selfish and to share because I won this with a laptop that I borrowed,” he said. This philosophy of collaboration and sharing continues to guide his work and community involvement.

Looking ahead, DJ Irvinex plans to give back to the local music community by launching a podcast later this year to support emerging artistes. By mentoring new talent and creating platforms for exposure, he aims to strengthen Zimbabwe’s deejaying culture and inspire the next generation.
