Freeman HKD Set to Headline STEMA Music & Arts Festival 2025

Zimdancehall kingpin Freeman HKD is set to headline the STEMA Music & Arts Festival 2025, one of the biggest music events on Zimbabwe’s local scene this year. Scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Stephen Margolis Resort, the festival features a star-studded lineup including Killer T, Saintfloew, Gemma Griffiths, Nyasha David, and international sensation Tyler ICU. Freeman is expected to light up the stage on Saturday.

Speaking ahead of the festival, Freeman described performing at STEMA as a major honour and an opportunity to connect with his supporters. “It means a lot. I take it like any other big festival because it gives me another opportunity to connect with my fans,” he said.

While he has performed at Stephen Margolis Resort before, Freeman anticipates a larger turnout this year. “Yes, I’ve performed there once. I’m expecting more people to show up,” he added. He also hinted at possible surprises but kept details under wraps.

Freeman is also preparing for his next major event, the HKD Festival, where he plans to release a new album next month. “That day, people should expect another hot body of work,” he said.

He emphasised the importance of fan engagement during live performances, noting that much of his stage energy is driven by the crowd. “It’s very important, some of the things we do on stage are not rehearsed. They’re triggered by fan energy,” Freeman explained.

Describing his recent career phase as a period of “inevitable growth,” Freeman said it has helped him become more appreciative and supportive of festivals like STEMA.

Freeman has a history of sharing the stage with Zimbabwe’s top performers. He frequently performs with Killer T, sharing a loyal fan base, and has collaborated with Saintfloew. His upcoming STEMA performance will also mark his first time sharing the stage with Tyler ICU.

He assured fans that while no unreleased tracks will be performed at STEMA, the show will be polished, following a month of intensive rehearsals.

As anticipation builds, Freeman HKD promises a performance that blends energy, experience, and connection, making STEMA 2025 a highlight of Zimbabwe’s music calendar.
