Jah Prayzah Shuts Down Harare with “Ndini Mukudzeyi World Show”

Zimbabwean multi-award-winning musician Jah Prayzah, born Mukudzei Mukombe, delivered a sold-out performance at the Harare International Conference Centre on Saturday with his “Ndini Mukudzeyi World Show.” The show drew over 1 000 fans who could not fit inside the venue and danced outside while listening to the performance.

Backed by his Third Generation Band, Jah Prayzah captivated the audience with a dynamic blend of mbira rhythms, dance, singing, and futuristic elements that added humour and energy. From his entrance on stage through an Afrofusion rendition of the National Anthem of Zimbabwe, he performed hits including “Ndini Mukudzeyi,” “Necessary,” “Shuga,” “Kwaunobva,” “Kuno,” “Ibvo,” “Manja,” and “Mibvunzo.” The crowd maintained high energy throughout, singing along and applauding with each song.

Musicians and fans alike appreciated Jah Prayzah’s style, which balances traditional and modern elements, making his music feel both ancient and futuristic, local and global. Female musician Wanayi of the Famous Blue Band expressed admiration for the performance, highlighting its enjoyment while noting that a larger, more secure venue would allow easier movement and access to refreshments.

The opening acts energized the audience, featuring God Father Templeman, DJ C Skillz, DJ Iroq, Culture Love, Young Gemini, Malloti, Chill Master, Tammy Moyo, Ceh Calaz, and Tocky Vibes. Templeman, in his authentic dancehall style, led chants and added humour, seamlessly blending gospel and secular influences.

The show reinforced Jah Prayzah’s standing as a cultural ambassador, demonstrating how Zimbabwean music resonates locally and has potential for global recognition. It highlighted music’s role as a vehicle for cultural exchange, drawing on national heritage while appealing to international audiences.
