Nisha Ts Clarifies Rumours About Her Sexuality and Style

Popular Afro-Dancehall singer Nisha Ts, born Anisha Tashinga Shonhiwa, has addressed rumours suggesting she is a lesbian or a tomboy due to her fashion choices. The singer, known for her hit song “Admire Kadembo,” clarified that her dressing style reflects personal preference rather than her sexuality.
In a recent interview on the Ollah 7 Podcast, Nisha confirmed that she is in a relationship. “Yes, I am in a relationship. I have a boyfriend, why not? Ndi Mhofu,” she said.
Nisha is recognized for her signature style of baggy jeans, oversized T-shirts, and stylish sneakers. She explained that this preference stems from her upbringing and personal comfort. “Growing up, people used to say I behave and talk like a boy, because my voice has a bass. I always liked wearing trousers and shorts. I am not gay, I just love this style of dressing,” she added.
The singer revealed that her grandmother, who raised her, never allowed her to wear trousers at home. She could only wear them at school. Moving to town gave her the freedom to dress according to her taste. “I then had the liberty to wear whatever I wanted when I grew up and came to town, that’s why I dress like this,” Nisha explained.
Her clarification comes as fans continue to admire her music and fashion sense, emphasizing that personal style does not define sexual orientation. Nisha Ts remains one of Zimbabwe’s most prominent Afro-Dancehall artists, blending distinctive style with musical talent.
Her story highlights how upbringing and personal choice shape style, and it challenges assumptions that fashion choices indicate sexual identity.
