Tapiwanashe Makarawu Crowned Overall Best Sportsperson at 2025 NAAZ Awards

Tapiwanashe Makarawu capped an outstanding season by receiving the highest honour at the 2025 National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe (NAAZ) Athletics Excellence Awards in Bindura, where he was named Overall Best Sportsperson of the Year. Though he was unable to attend the ceremony, his father, Richard Makarawu, accepted the award on his behalf, highlighting the strong family support behind his rising career.
In addition to the top accolade, Makarawu also won the Best Senior Male Athlete of the Year award, marking a dominant year in both local and international competitions. His performances throughout the season reinforced his status as one of Zimbabwe’s top sporting talents, with standout displays at major collegiate meets abroad and high-profile international events.
