Tawanda Tehillah Midzi Prepares Third Live Gospel Recording in Harare

Gospel music in Zimbabwe has seen remarkable growth over the past decade, with fresh voices emerging and delivering productions that inspire and uplift. One rising star in this movement is Tawanda Tehillah Midzi, a young artist steadily making a name for himself with his unique sound and heartfelt worship. Midzi is currently in the studio preparing for his third live recording, scheduled to take place in the capital city on 21 November.

“I believe the calling of God upon my life comes with a bit of pressure when it comes to my music,” Midzi shared. “Every song is a message to someone. I don’t believe God gives me songs just to keep them. This is the reason why I am constantly working on various projects to release these songs.” His dedication reflects the growing professionalism in Zimbabwe’s gospel scene, where production quality and meaningful lyrics are becoming central to reaching audiences.

The upcoming live recording, themed “Thanksgiving,” will feature nine new tracks that showcase Midzi’s vocal range and production skills. The project will also include collaborations with four prominent gospel artists: Takesure Zamar Ncube, Tatenda Gurupira, Nyasha Mutonhori, and Mai Kuvheya. Midzi explained, “I chose these acts because I feel they resonate with my vision as this will be an entirely worship album.” These collaborations highlight his commitment to creating music that resonates deeply with listeners and maintains a focus on worship.

Midzi hopes the project will have a transformative impact on his audience. “I’m believing God will speak to his people through this music that he has given me. I believe when people listen, their souls will be healed, and hope will be restored in believers. Lastly and most importantly, I want this music to draw people closer to God, that they might have a burning hunger and a desire for God,” he said. His vision aligns with the broader growth of gospel music in Zimbabwe, which increasingly combines spiritual depth with professional production standards.

Beyond his solo projects, Midzi serves at Faith in God Ministries and contributes as a backing vocalist for multi-award-winning gospel artist Everton Mlalazi. He is also a key member of FiG Worship Culture, a vibrant gospel group known for its energetic performances and contemporary worship style. His involvement in these platforms reflects both his versatility and his commitment to nurturing the gospel music community in Zimbabwe.

With “Thanksgiving” set to debut in Harare, fans and gospel enthusiasts can expect a spiritually enriching experience that combines heartfelt lyrics, strong vocal arrangements, and meaningful collaborations. Midzi’s dedication to his craft signals that Zimbabwe’s gospel scene will continue to grow, offering both inspiration and high-quality music to audiences locally and beyond.
