What was Mik up to in 2014?

I was in the studio working on my Lp.

How did you get the name Mikael?

I was a big Micheal Jackson fan so after a show and tell performance where I performed Billie Jean, a Russian friend I was close to said ‘You remind me of Mikael Jackson’, lol she couldn’t say Micheal.

Which artist did you look up to growing up?

Umm I looked up to Audius Mutawarira, Trinity and ofcourse Micheal.

When did you realise you wanted to take music seriously?

When I was in high school at Prince Edward School were we had a really active music block.

Were your parents accepting of your decision?

My mom was a bit touchy about it but she eventually came around but my dad always had my back.

What was the most important thing you learnt whiles making your E.p?

To stick to yourself and your sound.

What was the motivation behind the Listen E.p?

The reason I madde the Listen E.p is because I feel in Zimbabwe there isn’t enough hype or awareness around soul RnB so I made the product to say ‘Im here’ and for the fans to listen and build an appreciation around RnB.

What can we expect in the near future?

You might or might not see 1 or 2 visuals off the Listen E.p I’m not at liberty to say right now but what I can say is next year I will be collaborating with some of Africa’s biggest artists.

Where do you see yourself in 5years?

With an Mtv African Music Award.

Any words of wisdom to the youth of Zimbabwe?

Be yourself and don’t be Afraid to express yourself, life is way too short.
