8 year old Zimbabwean soccer player signed in by Chelsea

In a recent development, a young Zimbabwe football starlet has officially signed with English Premier League powerhouse, Chelsea Football Club. 8-year-old striker Josh Masara was officially signed by Chelsea Academy on Friday. The young starlet is reported to have been on the radar of Chelsea’s London rivals Arsenal football club who also made an offer to sign him. However, Josh decided to go with Chelsea.

This is clear evidence of the abundant young talent in Zimbabwe. The governing local football body has often come under fire for failing to promote talent football talent at grassroots level. The young soccer star surely has a bright future and is set to follow in the footsteps of leading footballers to play abroad such as Marvelous Nakamba.

Josh’s contract with Chelsea Academy was revealed by his mother Olinda Masara, who shared pictures of the young starlet on social media, with the captions “Contract signed”. He is now an official Chelsea player contract signed.

Zimbabwe has leading football talent. Some local players have managed to make it big on the international scene. These include Benjani Mwaruwari, Marvelous Nakamba and Peter Ndlovu. The young man is set to make a mark on the I international scene
