D-day for Loga

The ZIFA Board is set to meet today to seal the fate of under fire Warriors coach Zdravko Logarusic.

Following a string of poor results in the 14 matches that he has been in charge of the Zimbabwe national team which saw him registering just one win, nine draws and four losses, the domestic football family has since been calling for Logarusic’s ouster.

Ever since the Croat took charge of the team from the hands of Chicken Inn’s Joey Antipas, the expatriate has since turned the Warriors into punching bags.

Zimbabwe has now failed to score in their last two matches in the World Cup qualifiers where they first drew 0-0 with neighbours South Africa at the National Sports Stadium on September 3 before losing 1-0 to minnows Ethiopia at the Bahir Dar International Stadium four days later.  

With ZIFA holding the country at ransom by stubbornly keeping the Croatian gaffer despite his worthlessness, it was the loss to Ethiopia which irked the fans who are now baying for Loga’s blood.

As things got heated, even the ZIFA Board Member Competitions Sugar Chagonda wrote to the FA’s president Felton Kamambo soon after the Ethiopia tie recommending him to wield the axe on the beleaguered so-called tactician.

“Mr President, I am sorry to say, but I wish to vehemently pursue and sustain an argument from our recent board meeting that the head coach, Zdravko Logarusic, is now a liability and an albatross on our neck.

“True to your word, football has talked. Beyond the facts laid before us to the fact that the national team coach lacks basic appreciation of the game, he is too temperamental and lacks leadership skills.

“The coach does not consult other members of the technical team; that is, if he plans his workout because I am reliably informed his training programme does not change (he has one predictable training drill) …The long and short of it, Mr President, my recommendation is to part ways with Mr Logarusic immediately,” read part of the letter.

All this having been said, it now remains with the ZIFA Board to decide on the fate of Zdravko Logarusic today.
