FC Platinum out to settle scores
By Geronimo News
Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League champions FC Platinum are eyeing to clinch the Chibuku Super Cup trophy for the second time in the history of the club after winning it back in 2014 when they beat Harare City 3-1 on penalties.
Kugona Kunenge Kudada face their platinum-backed cousins Ngezi Platinum Stars on Saturday at their Mandava Stadium base in Zvishavane in what is expected to be an enthralling encounter.
FC Platinum have been enjoying a fine run both in the Chibuku Super Cup as well as the topflight league lately and will be hoping they will keep that momentum when they date Ngezi platinum Stars who too have been diminutive.
Coming on the back of two consecutive Premier League wins against Tenax and Chicken Inn respectively, Norman Mapeza’s charges are confident they will not disappoint in front of their home crowd.
Considering it will be a third meeting between these two sides in this year’s edition of the Chibuku Super Cup competition with FC Platinum winning once and losing once, Kugona Kunenge Kudada will be looking forward to assert their dominance.
Also, the final will be the second in this cup game after their first meeting came in 2016 which saw Ngezi Platinum Stars silencing their cousins with a 3-1 scoreline at the Baobab stadium in Mhondoro Ngezi to be crowned champions.
With those memories still lingering in their minds, FC Platinum will be all out to settle the scores with the Mhondoro Ngezi based outfit.
