Gamecocks in technical team reshuffle
Castle Lager Premier Soccer League runners-up Chicken Inn have elevated Prince Matore to the post of the club’s Head Coach ahead of the forthcoming 2023 season.
Matore, who is a holder of a CAF A license, worked as Joey Antipas’ assistant coach over the years.
Former Bulawayo Chiefs and Bulawayo City gaffer Farai Tawachera will also be coming into the Gamecocks technical team set up as the club’s assistant coach.
“We have reshuffled our technical department,” club Chairman Juta Tshuma told The Chronicle while confirming the latest developments.
However, Antipas is still with Chicken Inn and rumour has it that he has been reassigned to the position of Technical Director.
It is also believed that former Caps United and Warriors number 1 Energy Murambadoro will remain as the Goalkeepers’ Coach for the coming season.
Chicken Inn missed out on the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League championship medal last season after finishing second behind eventual winners FC Platinum who bagged it for the fourth time in a row.
With Antipas believed to have reached his ceiling in the dugout, the Bulawayo outfit has thus seen it fit to elevate Matore with the hope that the young coach will bring in some fresh ideas which will drive the club to dizzy heights.
Perhaps the former Motor Action midfielder, with a little bit of some patience and support, will be the man to steer Chicken Inn to a podium finish in the Zimbabwean topflight for the first time since 2015.
