Mandiranga leaves Makepekepe for Mozambique’s UD Songo

By Geronimo News

Emmanuel Mandiranga has become the latest Zimbabwean to join the Mozambican Premier League after penning a one-year contract with UD Songo.

Mandiranga was one of the standout performers alongside fellow striker William Manondo at Caps United last season and it is his prowess that earned him a call up at the Mozambican outfit.

Despite Makepekepe’s hard times in the domestic topflight were the club battled to stay afloat, Mandiranga saw an opportunity to market himself and his efforts paid off as he managed to catch the attention of the Hidroelétricos ultimately joining the club on a 12 months deal.

“It’s every player’s wish to play abroad especially at a higher level. I hope to do my best and help the club achieve its projected targets for the season. I am ready for the new task at hand and I believe I will add more value to my new club UD Songo. I salute everyone who put a hand to be where I am today because without their support I wouldn’t be the player I am today,” said Mandiranga upon completing his deal at the Songo based side.

The former Caps United striker is not new to changing bases as he has seen himself playing for several clubs in the country including Harare giants Dynamos, Harare City, the now defunct How Mine and Bulawayo City.

Mandiranga will become the second Zimbabwean to move to the Mozambican topflight this season after defender Tinotenda Muringai joined the same club, UD Songo, on a season long loan contract from DeMbare.

The duo who will be having a family union beyond the borders are expected to bring in some quality and spice up their new club while helping steer the Hidroelétricos to greatness.

With Zimbabwe currently banned from the international football ecosystem, many a players are now finding it prudent to look elsewhere in a bid to try and create their passage onto the international stage such as the CAF or even the FIFA club competitions should their respective teams qualify for such.
