Marvelous Nakamba to Organise European Trials for Njube Spurs Talents
Zimbabwe national team captain Marvelous Nakamba has revealed plans to organise football trials in Europe for three promising youngsters from his Njube neighbourhood in Bulawayo. The Luton Town defensive midfielder was impressed by the talent of these players and wants to create opportunities that mirror the pathway he followed in his own career. Nakamba’s initiative aims to provide exposure for local youth who otherwise might not have access to international football platforms. This move highlights his commitment to nurturing talent in his community while expanding the horizons of Zimbabwean football.
Among the three selected players are 16-year-olds Thabile Zulu and Michael Tembo, both currently playing for Njube Spurs, a club sponsored by Nakamba. Zulu recently represented Zimbabwe at the COSAFA Under-17 Championship, demonstrating his potential on a regional stage. Tembo participated in the COSSASA games in Eswatini in August, gaining valuable international experience. Their achievements with Njube Spurs contributed to the club’s U-17 team winning the ZIFA Bulawayo Province Junior League title, showcasing the effectiveness of Nakamba’s development efforts.
“Marvelous Nakamba wants three of our boys to attend trials in Europe. We are yet to receive full details, but most likely the trials will take place in France,” a Njube Spurs official said. Club officials expressed gratitude for Nakamba’s continuous support of the team and his investment in the wider community. His efforts go beyond sponsorship, focusing on the growth and mentorship of young players. By providing these opportunities, Nakamba is helping shape the next generation of footballers in Zimbabwe.
Nakamba has been sponsoring Njube Spurs since its formation in 2017, covering all logistics including food, transport, and referee fees on match days. During the off-season, he personally attends matches to monitor progress and provide feedback to players and coaches.
