Mushekwi Wins Golden Boot in China’s League One with 25 Goals
Zimbabwean striker Nyasha Mushekwi has been crowned the top scorer in China’s League One after an impressive season with Yunnan Yukun, finishing with a total of 25 goals. The former CAPS United and Mamelodi Sundowns forward’s stellar performance included one hat-trick and five braces, highlighting his goal-scoring prowess.
Mushekwi, who played 30 matches for Yukun, was a key figure in the team’s success, helping them secure the League One title and earn promotion to the Chinese Super League. Yukun clinched the championship with a game to spare, amassing 66 points in the campaign.
This season marks Mushekwi’s third stint in Chinese football. After leaving Zhejiang Greentown, where he became the club’s all-time top scorer, he joined Yukun in March on a free transfer. The striker had previously played for Dalian from 2016 to 2019, establishing himself as one of the top foreign players in the Chinese leagues.
With his 25 goals, Mushekwi has once again demonstrated his immense value, not only to his team but to the league as a whole. As he prepares for a return to the Chinese Super League, Mushekwi’s achievement in League One is a testament to his enduring skill and consistency in one of Asia’s most competitive football environments.
