National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe Announces 2025 Excellence Awards Nominees

The National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe has unveiled the nominees for the 2025 Excellence Awards, scheduled to take place in Bindura this Saturday. The awards will recognise outstanding achievements across senior, junior, and youth categories, as well as contributions from coaches, administrators, and technical officials.

The ceremony will also celebrate provinces that have excelled in athlete development, participation, and performance throughout the year.

Nominees for Technical Official of the Year include Enias Nhoro, Tawanda Mutero, and Collen Jim.

In the Senior Athletes category, female nominees are Vimbayi Maisvorewa, Ashley Miller, and Fortunate Chidzivo, while male nominees include Isaac Mpofu, Tapiwanashe Makarawu, and Makanakaishe Charamba.

Junior Athletes nominees feature Takunda Mutizwa, Gift Khumalo, and Trey Chimunya for males, with Martha Chipuriro, Anesu Nyahuma, and Hayley Chingono for females.

Youth Athletes nominees are Jackson Nyamazana, Ishmael Mafoti, and Ropafadzo Mzondo for males, and Kimberly Kachambwa, Moiller Mullar, and Tulange Mudenda for females.

Provinces in contention for top honours in athlete development and performance are Harare, Mashonaland West, and Bulawayo.

Coaches recognised for their impact include Benson Chauke, Mavhuto Tumba, and Zibusiso Nyoni for senior athletes; McGregor Manuhwa, Efredge Ndlovu, and Cuthbert Nyasango for junior athletes; and Njere Shumba, Walter Kugara, and Neria Tembo for youth athletes.

The 2025 Excellence Awards aim to highlight Zimbabwe’s athletic talent and the individuals and teams contributing to the growth of the sport across all levels.
