Qadr Amini defying age
Qadr Amini is proving to be the vital cog in Ngezi Platinum Stars’ drive towards reaching the Promised Land this season.
Madamburo’s captain fantastic put up a spirited performance in their 3-0 win away at ZPC Kariba on Saturday to maintain grip at the apex of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table.
Although he was not on target this time around, it is his experience that his fellow youthful brigades are leveraging on to put up brave performances with each passing week.
“I told myself that I wanted to enjoy the game this season, so that has been the major drive towards whatever I am doing right now, and the hunger is getting more and more. As of freekicks, it’s something that i work on everyday to perfect my, the technique, speed and all. We feel we can archive the title but it’s not easy hence we’re taking each game as it comes, albeit without pressurising ourselves. Over and above, we have a good understanding as a team and we know exactly what the coach wants, which has been key,” said Amini.
In recent past, the Madamburo skipper has been a nemesis for many a goalkeepers on the land owing to his trademark freekicks which can be related to those of former Shabanie Mine and Dynamos dead ball specialist Francis Chandida.
Sitting pretty on seven goals, just three behind the league’s leading scorer Fortune Bhinzi (Manica Diamonds), Amini (who is stopping at nothing in converting those set pieces) has the mettle to wrestle for the Golden Boot Accolade.
