Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya Shines in Debut Season with AmaZulu

Former FC Platinum striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya is making a strong impression in South Africa’s Betway Premiership, continuing his fine goal-scoring form in his debut season with AmaZulu FC.
Ngwenya extended his season tally to four goals on Wednesday when AmaZulu drew 1-1 with Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium. The 22-year-old gave Usuthu the lead in the 21st minute, powering home a bullet header from close range.
Despite his strike, AmaZulu could not secure an away victory, as Kaizer Chiefs’ Mduduzi Shabalala equalised 11 minutes later. Ngwenya’s goal, however, moved him closer to the league’s joint top scorers, Bradley Grobler and Iqraam Rayners, who each have six goals.
Ngwenya joined AmaZulu in July on a two-year deal, leaving FC Platinum after scoring nine goals in the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League. His transition to the South African top flight has been seamless, highlighting his potential to become a consistent goal threat in the Betway Premiership.
The young forward’s performances have already caught the attention of fans and pundits, with his aerial prowess and finishing ability standing out. As AmaZulu continues its league campaign, Ngwenya’s impact could play a key role in the club’s aspirations for a strong season.
With his early form, Ngwenya is establishing himself as one of the most promising Zimbabwean exports in South African football, demonstrating that he can compete at a high level and score consistently.
