ZIFA Launches CAF B Refresher Coaching Course to Enhance Local Coaching Standards

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has officially launched the CAF B Refresher Coaching Course in Harare, reaffirming its commitment to improving coaching standards across the country. The programme, running from 3 to 7 November 2025, is designed to ensure local coaches stay current with modern football trends, methodologies, and practices. The initiative reflects ZIFA’s focus on professional development and the long-term growth of football in Zimbabwe.
The week-long course targets current holders of the CAF B Licence, providing them with an opportunity to refresh their knowledge in line with the latest Confederation of African Football (CAF) guidelines. The curriculum combines theoretical and practical sessions to help coaches reconnect with modern tactical, technical, and player development approaches. By offering this refresher, ZIFA ensures experienced coaches continue to contribute effectively to the advancement of the sport.
The course is being facilitated by ZIFA Head of Technical, Dominique Niyonzima, and also serves as a mentoring and assessment platform for coach educators Wilson Mutekede, Tafadzwa Mashiri, Sithethelelwe Sibanda, and Dr. Joseph Sibindi. These educators are participating as part of their own professional development, gaining insight into the latest coaching practices and evaluation techniques. The structure of the programme encourages both knowledge transfer and collaboration among participants.
The opening ceremony took place on Monday at the ZIFA Village in Mt Hampden, officially marking the start of an intensive week of learning. Practical and classroom sessions will run throughout the week at various venues, culminating in final assessments and a closing session on Friday. The course aims to reinforce best practices in coaching while offering participants a platform to exchange ideas and experiences.
Speaking at the launch, Dominique Niyonzima emphasized the value of continuous learning in football. “Football is constantly evolving, and as coaches, we must evolve with it. This refresher course gives our coaches the opportunity to realign with new developments in the game, exchange ideas, and continue learning. By ensuring that even those who trained in the past are updated and equipped with the latest knowledge, we are strengthening the overall quality of coaching in Zimbabwe and preparing our coaches to contribute effectively to player and team development,” he said.
The CAF B Refresher Coaching Course represents a significant step in ZIFA’s ongoing strategy to professionalize coaching standards, enhance player performance, and elevate the overall level of football across Zimbabwe.
