Zimbabwe Prepares to Host Afghanistan for Exciting Home Cricket Series

Zimbabwe’s national cricket team is set to welcome Afghanistan for a highly anticipated home series at Harare Sports Club. The tour will feature a one-off Test match from 20 to 24 October 2025, followed by a three-match T20I series on 29 October, 31 October, and 2 November 2025.
This series marks Zimbabwe’s first home Test since 2021, reigniting the country’s passion for red-ball cricket. Fans are eager to witness top-tier cricket on home soil, with the series expected to draw strong crowds and national attention.
While Zimbabwe Cricket has not yet announced the official squad, fans have actively voiced their preferences on social media. Young spinner Ryan Simbi has emerged as a trending name, praised for his unorthodox bowling action. Cricket enthusiasts believe his unique style could challenge Afghanistan’s batters.
“Give Ryan Simbi one chance in the Test and T20. His bowling action is not easy to play for many batters — give him one chance,” posted fan Shahil Sami. Another supporter, Mhofu, added, “Give spinner Ryan Simbi one chance! He is an amazing talent.”
The series provides an opportunity for Zimbabwe to test emerging talents while competing against a competitive Afghanistan side. Cricket analysts anticipate close contests in both the Test and T20I formats, highlighting the significance of home advantage and crowd support.
This tour represents more than just matches; it symbolizes the revival of Zimbabwean cricket at an international level. Fans and players alike are preparing for a series that promises thrilling performances, memorable moments, and the chance to strengthen Zimbabwe’s presence in global cricket.
