Auxilia Mnangagwa receives major backlash for her “cow dung parade”.
The first lady of Zimbabwe Auxilia Mnangagwa recently caused furore when she decided to step out of her comfort zone and assist some villagers in sprucing up their huts. She even went a step further in preparing some traditional meals in their houses. Although the gesture was done in good faith and clearly highlighted her humility and good manners, some people have lashed out at Auxilia for trying to pull wool over their eyes and hide her true colours.
One of the images that sparked outrage was when she was pictured putting some cow dung in a kitchen hut popurlaly known as “kudzura ndove”. The smelly cow dung is used as floor polish and meant to give a smooth surface. The first lady went down on all fours and plastered the kitchen hut much to the amusement of onlookers who commended her motherly nature. Social media however, had no kind words for the first lady and she was attacked left, right and centre for her initiative. Here are some of the Facebook comments in relation to the issue:
Auxilia is renowned for her humble deeds and acts of goodwill. She was recently awarded by an international organization in recognition of her humanitarian work. The first lady has been visiting old people as part of her pre Christmas visits.
